Technical Support Specialist

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Provide world class technical phone/email support to Product Inspection customers.  The Technical Support Specialist will be the expert and owner of technical knowledge for XRay, Metal Detection, VISION, and  Check Weigh.  
  • Manage all incoming calls into the technical support line queue with limited hold times
  • Answer the phone in a professional manner and work with the customer/field engineer to help them troubleshoot their machine and ultimately solve their problem
  • Respond to technical questions via email in a timely manner
  • Identify and escalate priority issues with a sense of urgency
  • Record each customer interaction in Sales Logix.  
  • Remote Support as needed per customer contract
  • Travel into field to perform service work 
  • Create and maintain knowledge base system and articles for capturing key information that our Field Engineers can access
  • Ability to train customers/field engineers/Sales Reps in house or out in the field.
  • Part of on-call after hours rotation to provide remote support to customers and FE's
  • Research required information using available resources (different departments).  Take ownership of the customer concern until customer is satisfied
  • Pilot/user testing of new programs prior to field implementation
  • Lead efficiency improvement efforts to be implemented
  • Designated shadower for new hire FE's
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Travel:
    • May travel to customer locations to fix issues as needed.  


What You Need to Succeed

  • Formal Electronics Training or equivalent professional experience; a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology is preferred 
  • Have a thorough understanding of electronics and schematics, material handling
  • Understanding of the food processing industry and environment
  • Being able to visualize the customer's problem and break the steps down into Lehman's terms so the customer can understand
  • Innovative and effective problem-solver and troubleshooter 
  • Ability to handle a hectic, fast pace, ever-changing work environment, while maintaining a professional attitude
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to foster interaction within all levels of the organization, clients and subcontractors 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities and deadlines 
  • Ability to use all types of hand tools and digital electrical test equipment
  • Knowledge of mechanics, electronics, and distribution systems
  • Working mechanical knowledge of conveyor systems
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical distribution systems
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and the ability to read blue prints and schematics 
  • Formal Electronics Training or equivalent professional experience; a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology is preferred 
  • Ability to lift and carry 50+lbs 
  • Ability to stand and squat for long periods of time while on the job 
  • Hours: Must be able to work 8-5 as well 11-8 on a rotational basis 
  • Must be available for evening and weekends for on-call technical support on a rotational basis
