Manager - Credit and Collections

Role/Purpose: This position is responsible for the credit and collection activities for US and Canada. This position works collaboratively with business partners and a collections team based in India. It directly supervises a team of 8 collectors. The Account Manager, Credit & Collections is responsible for cash collections, dispute management, cash forecasting, monthly reports, metrics and controls compliance. The position also ensures a high level of service is provided to internal customers and the key point of contact with the business units. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • The successful candidate will be a seasoned credit and collections accounting professional with experience in dealing with a large diverse customer base (product and service); 
  • Manage the collection teams with overall responsibility for energizing and motivating the teams ensuring overall team goals are met; 
  • Assess credit worthiness, credit reviews and customer analysis to ensure the credit process and policies are efficient and effective; 
  • Analyze credit risk associated with current and potential customers; 
  • Coordinate Management, Sales and Operations on problem accounts, escalating issues and leading resolutions; 
  • Business process improvement, including recommendations to improve efficiencies across internal and external teams; 
  • Maintain internal controls, including monthly and quarterly SOX controls; 
  • Monthly close process, including the reconciliation of the AR sub-ledger and related reserves to the general ledger; 
  • Timely and consistent monitoring to ensure cash collections and DSO targets are met and contractual commitments to pay are maintained;
  • Supervise, coach and mentor the teams, monitor performance and provide on-going informal feedback, in addition to annual reviews.

Ihr Profil

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
  • Experienced financial accounting leader with strong accounting experience including US GAAP knowledge and local statutory accounting rules 
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and reporting in a large company, multi-unit environment 
  • Experienced in managing and motivating a team of accounting professionals 
  • Focus on process efficiency and prior experience with SOX and internal controls 
  • Good analytical skills and attentive to details -- focused on excellence 
  • Ability to work, take ownership, and succeed in a rapidly changing environment 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate with senior management from the supported business units 
  • Process oriented, attentive to details, and customer focus 
  • Must possess strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or related significant job experience 
  • CPA, CMA or similar desired 
  • SAP experience desired 
  • Hyperion reporting knowledge a plus
