Inside Sales Engineer

The Technical Sales and Marketing department of METTLER TOLEDO AutoChem (www.mt.com/autochem) needs a self-motivated, ambitious team player to fill our technical Inside Sales Engineer role at our Columbia, MD facility. We are looking for people who love science and technology, and excel at building dynamic relationships with people and are interested in expanding their commercial and business skills.  Ideal candidates are problem solvers with a strong chemistry, chemical engineering, or biochemistry background who will accept challenges, ask questions, research, and engage our customers. This position will be responsible for managing the technical sales activities and generating leads that convert to sales opportunities.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing scientific, technical, and information for our complete product and application offerings
  • Developing a rapport with customers to learn about their business successes and challenges 
  • Researching new companies, new contacts and contact application to develop new leads
  • Executing marketing, technical sales, and application based campaign initiatives to increase the number and quality of leads
  • Managing all aspects of our lead nurturing program
  • Developing scientific and sales scripts and customer facing emails 
  • Supporting, communicating and building effective relationships with technical field sales representatives
  • Becoming knowledgeable of competitive products and industry applications
  • Developing and executing contact identification, capture and profiling programs
  • Tracking and reporting progress or issues using the customer relationship management database
  • Using our complete line of products and partnerships to grow a portfolio of profitable businesses

Ihr Profil

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related science field; or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Preference of 1-2 years industry experience in sales or marketing that involved direct verbal and written customer communication
  • Consultative selling knowledge and experience a plus
  • Must possess excellent organization, time and multi-task management skills
  • Open and effective communication style, strong people skills and the ability to interact with individuals that work with high-value technology-based products and solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a cooperative team environment and focus on objectives with minimal direct supervision
  • Analytical, assertiveness, creativity and effective problem solving skills
  • Experience taking notes and logging data using a database preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Up to 15% travel may be required to support business development and participate in trade shows, conferences and technical user forums
  • Working knowledge in customer relationship management systems especially in a B2B business. Experience in SAP or SalesLogix is a plus
