The Product Marketing department within METTLER TOLEDO AutoChem ( is looking for an experienced, self-motivated, ambitious team player to fill a Market Development Manager role.  We are looking for people who love science and technology and can provide the deep product expertise needed for the overall business performance of our Particle Systems Characterization (PSC) product line designed for the pharmaceutical and chemical production environments. Ideal candidates are problem solvers with a strong background in crystallization, marketing and market development.  This position is responsible for the sales and marketing performance of the PSC business area worldwide.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Sales performance worldwide
    • Develop and maintain a global GAP analysis for the Particle Systems Characterization (PSC) business
    • Work closely with global sales teams to ensure best practices are being implemented with respect to sales execution
    • Support global Marketing Organizations (MO) with application development to support short term sales in target segments
    • Support Go-to-Customer visits at key account programs globally with high value calls and support for strategic meetings
    • Evaluate current and emerging competitors and competing technologies and provide sales organizations with tools to effectively combat competition
  • Marketing performance worldwide
    • Identify new segment growth opportunities; develop and roll out marketing and sales initiatives and tools to pioneer the market (application, industry, and geography)
    • Meet targets for agreed marketing KPIs including e-messages, e-leads, web views
    • Develop high value content to support global marketing campaigns (online seminars, whitepapers, brochures, videos, Search Engine Marketing web content)
    • Lead development of best in class sales tools and marketing campaigns  
    • Work closely with MOs and Columbia Marcom to support execution of marketing campaigns globally
    • Build a social media presence on LinkedIn
    • Deliver marketing message to the field at annual sales meetings
    • Support MOs with tools to develop new business from conferences and info days globally
  • Training
    • Train new Technology and Application Consultants (TAC) on PSC business
      • Advanced trainings for TACs and Account Mangers
      • Introductory trainings for all other key employees
    • Coordinate annual global TAC training meeting
  • Asia Pacific support
    • Support the development of business in China, India and Japan with 1 high value visits to each region annually
    • Work closely with MO management, sales coordinator and TACs in each region to ensure sales strategy is being implemented
    • Develop expertise of TACs in each region by conducting joint sales calls and application feasibility tests (AFTs)
  • Voice of the customer
    • Support innovation efforts by acting as the voice of the customer during all stages of the Product Life Cycle (PLM) process
    • Provide product management teammates with accurate and up to date market information that can be readily converted into requirements to support new product introductions
  • Strategic Plan Development
    • Support the development and execution of 5 year strategic plan to support growth targets

Ihr Profil

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering required; Master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred
  • MBA or a recognized marketing qualification is a plus
  • Three (3) years in process development, sales & marketing or product management
  • Experience with various In-Situ Analytics technology including IR, FBRM, EasyViewer and Raman
  • Experience in crystallization, process development and the implementation of Process Analytical Technology (PAT)
  • Strong track record of delivering business results and demonstrated ability to mobilize and influence an organization
  • International experience required with experience working in Asia preferred
  • Proven project management skills including a clear understanding of how to influence without authority across matrix style organizations
  • Experience with developing business justifications for high value capital purchases
  • Ability to report ROI and effectiveness of marketing programs
  • Open and effective communication style, excellent public presentation skills, strong people skills, cross-organizational teamwork and the ability to interact with and influence the direction of key opinion leaders
  • Excellent technical writing skills with prior experience in marketing communications and proven track record developing high value content for a scientific audience
  • Willingness and ability to travel worldwide, up to 50% travel is anticipated
