Quality Engineer

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities



Responsibilities and Authority:  Actual duties include the following, depending on skills and business needs.  Other duties may be assigned.


Production Support:


• Uses and programs CMMs / CMM Software such as OGP Smartflash, Measuremind, Zone 3, Zeiss O-Inspect, Calypso, Sprint MVP and Keyence 6100 series instruments. Supports inspection team when needed.

• Determines sampling plans and advises inspectors in measurement, inspection and testing of materials.

• Makes decisions on disposition of Non-Conforming Material..

• Supports equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ and Measurement System Analysis)

• Performs supplier audits.
 
• Analyzes quality data and generates reports using Minitab or similar to perform Gauge R&R, capability analysis, statistical confidence testing, DOE. Utilizes SPC to monitor production.


Customer Support:


• Responds to customer quality assurance departments' complaints concerning product failures, service calibration errors using SCARs/VCARs or 8D reports.



Research and Development Support:


• Performs risk analysis and failure prevention using tools such as DFMEA, PFMEA, DRBFM, Quality Mapping.  

• Attends Product Development meetings, advises on quality risks, sets test plans and reviews test results.


General Other Support:


• Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.

• Maintains a working knowledge of the appropriate ISO standards, CE and FDA regulations and new developments in testing and examination methods of processes, materials, and products.

What You Need to Succeed



• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

• At least 3 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment. (Injection Molding or Mechanical Assembly) 

• Experience with analysis tools typically used by Quality Engineers, such as capability analysis, gauge R&R or other statistical techniques.
  
• Experience reading drawings and determining required methods to measure dimensions and other critical characteristics in molded or machined parts.
 
• Experience specifically using CMMs in measurement is required.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
