Technical Operations Supervisor (Injection Molding)

Job Summary: The Technical Supervisor role is responsible for developing and troubleshooting the plastic injection molding processes to achieve optimum production and quality goals. You will provide support and leadership to molding operations and ensure a consistent process is followed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
 

• Function as a first-line supervisor over Injection Mold Technicians.

• Ensures machine performance and outputs are to approved specifications.

• Troubleshoot equipment and processing problems related to product quality or to improve efficiencies.

• Set up presses and related equipment and work area according to daily production schedules.

• Train, mentor, and motivate production staff to excel in their careers.

• Troubleshoots and eliminates various molded part defects utilizing formal root cause analysis techniques.

• Inspects and updates all set up sheets.

• Works with production control to obtain molding requirements.

• Keeps department running with minimum down time.

• Continuously looks for ways to reduce costs in the department.

• Monitor and track staffing conditions, work hours and overtime, job rotation, and absenteeism.

• Understand, execute, and ensure consistent compliance with all company rules, policies, and practices, and take appropriate corrective action when warranted.

• Responsible for managing and appraising team member job performance and recommending corrective action.

• Provide direction and motivation to team members emphasizing safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, cost reduction, and morale.

• Lead continuous improvement activity for assigned area.

• Collect, record, and analyze information while maintaining documentation regarding the activities in the assigned area as defined by company policy, procedure, or practice.

• Consistently maintains a positive attitude, volunteers for additional assignments and assists other team members as needed.

• Recommends production process improvements.

• Mentors and guides team members to improve molded component quality / automation equipment's and performance.

• Creates and maintains molding / automation process setup datasheets, work instructions, protocols, and other process documentation.

• Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work environment utilizing 5S processes and other lean methodologies.

• Works various shifts and occasional weekends to support department as needed.

What You Need to Succeed



• Technical diploma, preferably with a specialization in injection molding.

• 3 - 4 years of supervisory and hands-on Molding Experience.

• Experience in Molding automation systems is desired.

• Mechanical aptitude, ability to use electric and manual hand tools.

• Ability to write, read, understand, and edit manufacturing procedures, work instructions,schedules, part numbers, and descriptions.

• Basic Understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, and Pneumatic system.

• Computer Skills: MS Excel skills required. Basic CAD skills desirable.
