Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

  • Qualification: BE / B.Tech / ME / M.Tech in Computer Science or related fields.
  • At least 12 years of experience leading product development teams.
  • Strong technical knowhow in the domain areas we operate in will be a plus.
  • Lead solutions for platforms like Cloud, Microsoft, Linux, etc.
  • Lead cloud, microservices and/or embedded systems and software solutions.
  • Experience in handling matrixed organizations.
  • Ability to provide technology leadership & direction.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams and customer stakeholders.
  • Experience in SAFe Agile transformation will be a plus.
  • Ability to travel internationally 10% of the time.

What You Need to Succeed

As Head of Software Development, you will
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills with the ability to build and optimize team performance and development to fulfill the organizational objectives.
  • Be responsible for all areas of the Engineering function and quality of delivery, building best-in-class products and business practices to deliver to the customers’ expectations.
  • Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across all areas of the Engineering function to ensure that all projects are delivered on cost and on time to the highest quality standards. 
  • Take responsibility and accountability for the Engineering aspects for respective division which will include people, cost, schedule, and scope management. 
  • Be part of the site and/or senior management team which determines all business decisions of the respective unit.
  • Provide clear leadership and vision, inspire, and motivate staff to achieve excellence and mentor them to develop new skills.
  • Provide leadership to departments under control. Coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strong collaboration between teams under leadership to facilitate exchange of information and to implement change and improvements.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders.
  • Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
Strategy Development and Deployment
  • Be responsible for implementing division strategy and operational goals maximizing efficiency, optimizing, and driving software engineering excellence.
  • Create and implement best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
  • Translate site strategy into specific annual performance goals and departmental objectives. 
  • Evaluate challenges faced by business and take action to mitigate and develop opportunities.
  • Initiate and develop creative and innovative engineering processes.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and engineering activities.
People Management
  • Be responsible for building appropriate organizational structure, resource plans and culture to fulfil business objectives and strategy.
  • Define department targets and monitor progress and performance.
  • Build a vibrant culture to support self-organizing teams.
  • Enable teams to achieve operational and financial goals and succeed in their roles.
  • Financial Budget and Control
  • Prepare and manage annual operating plans. Manage demand-supply effectively.
  • Ensure the unit’s operating margins and costs are managed well within the targets.
Relationship Management
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders for optimal performance.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, the impact of market and technology change and potential effects on engineering.
  • Product and Program Management
  • Work with SBUs to develop and integrate innovative solutions.
  • Support research, evaluate, and prototype new methodologies, technologies, and products, propose and follow through with improvements in processes and tools.
  • Develop deep understanding of the customer context while making technical decisions and choices.
  • Provide guidance to engineering teams on technical and architectural design decisions.
  • Contribute to Product Review Board to define product roadmaps.
