Product Manager

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

For our Laboratory Weighing division, which is the world's leading manufacturer of laboratory balances, we are looking for an enthusiastic Product Manager 80-100% (all genders) within the Strategic Product Group Balances located in Greifensee at METTLER TOLEDO's global operational headquarters.

To ensure the steady growth of our unit, you are responsible for three key activities: lowering the environmental impact of our offerings, acting as interface to Marketing departments for our business unit and product owner for digital selling tools and their corresponding data sources. To be successful in this role, we are looking for a communicative, empathic and action-oriented person who is able to navigate in a matrix organization. 

In this role, your responsibilities include:

Sustainability
  • You establish and implement a sustainability roadmap for our products to reduce the environmental footprint of our portfolio of laboratory balances and accessories in alignment with the product managers responsible for the product lines
  • You analyze and understand the environmental impact of the complete lifecycle of our balances in order to identify the right improvement activities and align with our product and portfolio roadmap and stakeholders
  • You will be an expert in respect to sustainability activities of competition and industry peers
  • You suggest and implement end-to-end improvements including new activities such as circularity
Product Marketing
  • You act as coordinative interface for the Strategic Product Group to the Marketing team and ensure alignment and coordination between the teams, within the scope of campaigns or bigger projects such as product launches.
  • You leverage your product and application know-how as well as creativity to generate ideas to consolidate and enhance the marketing plan for the Strategic Product Group to push all our product groups (Lab Balances, Jewelry Scales, Weights and Accessories)
  • You support the change of our marketing approach towards a more B2C style including copywriting activities by leveraging your understanding of customers to develop compelling messages and value propositions to be used in various sales and marketing tools
Digital Selling Tools
  • You maintain and enrich our product databases to ensure optimal self-service in the customer journey
  • You will be product owner for our online guided selling tool, you maintain, analyze and improve it to make it easy for our customers to find the right solution
  • You work in conjunction with other Product Managers, Marketing team and more interfaces to ensure a smooth communication and collaboration between the teams

What You Need to Succeed

Following requirements are necessary for this role: 
  • You have a degree in natural sciences with flair for marketing of laboratory products or similar backgrounds with interest in sustainability
  • You gained at least 2 years of work experience in a related function. Sales and Marketing related experience is a big plus as well as experience within a global matrix organization
  • You have copywriting skills to transfer product and application know-how into compelling messaging 
  • You are a networker with excellent interpersonal skills and able to motivate and communicate with various external and internal stakeholders
  • You have strong organizational skills, prioritization abilities, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • You have a strong customer focus combined with analytical approach, proactive execution, and commercial acumen to suggest the right proposals and decisions
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills in English, and you are able to communicate in German and enjoy presenting both virtually and in-person
  • You are flexible and ready to travel globally about 5-10%.
