Our Opening and Your Responsibilities


This person is a confident, knowledgeable, and motivated individual serving as Software Solutions Consultant (SSC) for METTLER TOLEDO Product Inspection Business Area. Individual collaborates with sales representatives to help drive the standardization of METTLER TOLEDO product inspection solutions through adoption of our strategic ProdX software platform at customer accounts. Prospects both individually and with sales representatives to develop opportunities, leading the sales cycle process to close sales of METTLER TOLEDO’s ProdX software platform. Interacts with prospective stakeholders at decision-making levels within customer areas including quality management, production management, computer IT departments, and validation & regulation. Provides support to the sales team (field sales representatives and Regional Sales Managers) with pre-sales questions, conducting demos, and conducting project kick-off workshops.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Achievement of assigned sales targets and business development objectives.
  • Serves as the primary sales cycle manager for ProdX sales opportunities to the installed MT customer base, and to new prospects. As such, this individual maintains active pipeline of ProdX opportunities ranging from single workstation to larger opportunities that leverage all MT products/services in assigned territory.
  • Support assigned sales representatives on high value and complex sales opportunities. Involvement is based on the needs of the sales rep or Regional Sales Manager as well as the characteristics of the customer, market, competitive landscape, product and value of the opportunity to the organization. This can/will include assisting in activities from qualification through closing.
  • Responsible for coordinating, communicating, and performing sales demonstrations with the MT Product Inspection sales force on regular basis to generate new ProdX leads, develop opportunities, generate customer proposals, and to maintain full sales pipeline.
  • Utilize a consultative sales approach to support divisional & national opportunities, manage the sales cycle, defend our competitive position and develop strong customer relationships. Support national strategic partnerships with existing accounts and targeted high profile Key Accounts.
  • Proactive market segment and account development. Work with field personnel to spearhead strategic campaigns in order to create mutual high-value relationships between customers and METTLER TOLEDO.
  • Performs technical presentations and demonstrations involving ProdX software for existing and potential customers, primarily in-person and using web-based conferencing technologies where appropriate; also assists with market support functions such as conducting events and seminars.
  • Conveys MT total solution approach including METTLER TOLEDO validation, training, and other professional services to accompany placement of the software into the customer environment.
  • Post-sale responsibilities include coordinating the overall process of system installation and training between customer and MT resources to ensure successful customer start and to offload process from business area sales force.
  • Conducts sales training for the sales team to grow their product knowledge on ProdX.
  • Managing time, territory, and expenses within budget while maximizing productivity.
  • Use of MT-provided CRM (SAP), communication, and other technology and territory development tools in accord with corporate requirements and frequency.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

Education, Experience & Skills
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or other Sciences.
  • Minimum of four (4) years prior experience in direct sales involving laboratory software and/or laboratory automation and instruments, along with familiarity with typical laboratory applications and workflows.
  • Sales experience with/knowledge of software, regulatory and software validation guidelines, and value-selling models.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, time/territory management, follow-up, and communications skills required for high-profile interaction with key decision makers.
  • Prior experience with any/all of the following is required:
  • Prior use of CRM software such as SAP or similar contact management systems.
  • Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, PowerPoint, and other common computing applications.
  • Conferencing services such as Microsoft Teams, etc.
  • Solid time/territory management, prospecting, and follow-up skills.
