Field Service Technician - Retail Equipment

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

As our Field Service Technician for retail equipment in the Houston metro area, you will be responsible for performing calibration and preventative maintenance on weighing equipment without assistance. May be required to assist others on installations, projects and/or repairs as necessary. Other responsibilities will include: 
  • Calibrating, performing preventive maintenance, and repairing equipment while keeping track of job assignments and a detailed schedule 
  • Identifying the root causes of service issues the first time using your keen knowledge of the products and your comfort with hand tools and calibration equipment 
  • Updating service records and completing service reports on time and ensuring data integrity 
  • Traveling overnight 20% of the time 
  • Lifting and carrying 50+ pounds occasionally 
  • Standing and squatting for long periods of time 
  • Working evenings, weekends, and holidays occasionally

What You Need to Succeed

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED or 5 years of relevant work experience with an aptitude in the areas of Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Technology or Computer Science or equivalent education and experience in a technical support role, technical troubleshooting or technical installation of electronics or electromechanical technology. Associate's degree (AA) with a technical major or equivalent from a two-year college preferred, or related job experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Worked in field service or have related experience in similar environment. 
  • Calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair skills. 
  • The ability to identify the root causes of service issues the first time using your keen knowledge of the products and your comfort with hand tools and calibration equipment. 
  • Excellent customer service skills, detail orientation, and great verbal and written communication skills. 
  • The desire and ability to promote and sell services and products, generating sales leads. 
  • Basic comfort with laptop computers. 
  • A valid driver's license and a safe driving history.
