Technical Author

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

We are recruiting for a self-motivated and passionate individual to join our growing Team in Salford as a Technical Author. You will be based within the Product Management team and support the Development and Engineering team as well as the Service Team. The successful candidate will prepare and manage a full range of technical documents including user and technical manuals.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Prepare, review, manage and approve product documentation and user manuals in a range of languages for a world-wide market
  • Support the Product Management team with all aspects of technical documentation
  • Develop and implement new user manual concepts to improve time to market, customer usability and reduce the cost of producing
  • Further explore the use of the CMS (Content Management Software) and other productivity tools to improve time to market, customer usability and reduce the cost of producing
  • Continually seek improvement opportunities
  • Investigate the compliance requirements for technical documentation and user manuals, with the aim of enhancing Safeline's position as market leader in metal detection
  • Develop technical documentation and user manuals compliant with the Mettler Toledo guidelines and templates
  • Control of documentation in-line with ISO and MT corporate standards

What You Need to Succeed

  • Proven experience developing a range of technical publications across a range of media
  • Experience in using Schema or other content management systems
  • Experience of the following application tools - XMetaL, Microsoft Word, Acrobat Professional and Excel
  • Experience developing multi-lingual documentation across a range of media
  • Experience in compliance is advantageous 
  • Being software savvy is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and an eye for detail
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage to work to deadlines
