Technology and Applications Consultant- Particle Characterization

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, this position is responsible for identifying, developing, and supporting high value in situ particle characterization solutions for pharmaceutical, chemical, and petrochemical industries. The position requires strategic thinking, the ability to work in tandem with the Market Development Manager and closely with the Technical Sales Engineer, Account Manager, Bio team, Product Development team, Software team and Service team. As a recognized expert on the application of the PSC product family (FBRM and PVM technologies, the TAC will establish strong peer based relationships with scientists and engineers in the field, while ensuring sustainable growth of the business in their accounts. Expected travel is between 50%-75%. Your responsibilities will also include:
  • Executing programs following the annual business plan to develop and achieve the target sales number. 
  • Identifying sales opportunities for AutoChem products within the accounts/territory in the target market and application segments. 
  • Developing strong application knowledge and depth to serve as a recognized expert for process optimization and development in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and academic markets. 
  • Leading technical sales activities including pre and post sales visits, including onsite seminars, technical consulting, and application feasibility tests and reporting. 
  • Providing post sale support or existing customers on an ongoing basis with high level product training and application support to drive repeat sales.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Ideally a PhD, but a minimum of a Masters, in a related field such as chemical engineering. 
  • In depth knowledge and strong background in particle characterization. 
  • Ability to travel at least 75%. 
  • Understanding of sales techniques, such as value selling, spin selling, or consultative selling is preferred. 
  • SAP experience is preferred. 
  • Understanding of crystallization, process development, emulsions, and/or particle engineering is preferred.
  • Location within our Midwest territory, ideally in Indiana or Illinois.
