Intern - Hardware System Engineer

Our process analytical technology and automated synthesis reactors provide scientists in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical industries the information they need to deliver life-changing products.  As a strategic business unit within Mettler Toledo, AutoChem develops, manufactures, sells, and services instruments that modernize chemical synthesis, provide insight to every chemical reaction, and provide process knowledge to eliminate scale-up and safety incidents. 

Ideal candidates for our internship program will use their skills/experience to:

·       Complete a 10-12 week summer internship, working 30-hours per week

·       Under direction, set up and conduct tests of units, components, sub-assemblies, and accessories. These tests will include benchmarking, stress testing, and monitoring endurance tests. Organize and document test results

·       Potentially participate actively in generating Microsoft Word forms from a VBA template to allow us to replace our existing InfoPath Pac forms. Some forms will require VBA programming

·       Assist in evaluating technical problems and reproducing issues reported by manufacturing, field service and/or product marketing and offering possible solutions

·       Assist in reviewing project instructions, requirements, and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, and objectives

·       Assist in writing manufacturing test procedures and determining their pass criteria



What You Need to Succeed


 ·      Pursuing Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering or Computer Science, or other scientific/technical field

·       Ability to work in a lab and apply analytical instrumentations under mentorship
·       Microsoft Office experience, specifically MS Word and MS Excel
·       Programming experience, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) a plus
·       System hardware/software troubleshooting skills
·       Meticulous in documenting test steps and results
·       Strong written, verbal, communications, and presentation skills
·       Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
·       Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
