Business Development Manager, Biotechnology

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

As our Business Development Manager, you will focus on proactive penetration and development of target accounts and applications to drive and grow AutoChem sales in Bioprocessing throughout North America. Responsibilities will include functioning as a subject matter expert with a strong understanding of market needs and AutoChem solution fit, as well as proactively driving bioprocess lead generation, account penetration, opportunity nurturing, and engagement with the industry via business development. This role is integrated with the US sales team of Account Managers (AMs) and Technology and Application Consultants (TACs) and will also work closely with the Bio Market Development Manager for ongoing market development activities. Additional responsibilities will include: 

  • Proactively driving opportunity development and advancement, and market penetration, for AutoChem tools in the biotechnology and bioprocess markets to achieve the targeted sales number aligned with go-to-market strategies. 
  • Working closely with AMs and TACs in the field, developing and executing account penetration plans to develop AutoChem business and specifically targeted growth in Bio/large molecule applications. 
  • Supporting AMs with customer calls and visits, serving as the Bio application expert to assess solution fit, expand opportunity, and discover value. 
  • Developing relationships with visionary and early adopter customers at biopharma and academia institutions to support the adoption of our products and collateral creation. 
  • Working with the Marketing and the Bio Market Development Manager, supporting the development of marketing and sales collateral, as well as internal training material, to support growth of identified markets. 
  • Participating and driving customer engagement at select conferences and industry events, as well as AutoChem hosted virtual and in-person events. 
  • Participating in the ongoing development of an AutoChem Bio market strategy.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in bioprocessing, biochemical engineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 3 years' cumulative experience, including laboratory, sales, and business development.  
  • Ability to travel 50-70% across the country. 
  • A location in Boston, MA, Baltimore MD, Raleigh-Durham, NC, or the Pacific Northwest is ideal, however a location anywhere in the country with close proximity to an airport will be considered.
