Continuous Improvement & Safety Manager

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

This Continuous Improvement & Safety Manager is responsible to lead safety and continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma methodology to help drive key activities and achieve production area improvements throughout the plant. This role has the responsibility to attain key safety and operational results through the use of Lean manufacturing, 5S, Waste Elimination, Productivity Improvement, Visual Management and Six Sigma tools. Additionally, this role will be responsible to leverage systematic problem solving techniques to systematically improve safety, quality, delivery & cost performance and help drive a continuous improvement culture overall. The Continuous Improvement & Safety Manager will also be required to implement the MT CI belt certification at AM-HUB.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Enhance facility performance through proactive actions relating to:
  • Builds working relationships with the facility management and operational teams
  • Be an action leader to the production & warehouse teams, mentor and motivate team members, having a positive impact on facility performance
  • Lead by example and actively engage in the CI & Safety initiatives using "I Do, We Do & You Do" philosophy to drive sustainable results.
  • Act as a communications hub for the team, disseminating pertinent and timely information as it relates to Continuous Improvement and Safety
  • Be hands-on with the team to get initiatives completed and on-time
  • Provides necessary CI & Safety training to all levels and functions at AM-HUB
  • Help sustain gains of the program and help to move it further along by helping others work through obstacles of progress
  • Record and promote the documentation of production indicators and abnormalities on the Hour by Hour Boards, SQDC boards, and daily Gemba walks.
  • Actively participate and manage the Safety program and Safety Improvement Plan (SIP).
  • Engage and enhance the Safety Safari's and drive prevention by increasing the safety awareness.
  • Manage projects directly linked to improvement of primary KPI goal achievement
  • Lead the production team in 5S & Visual Management initiatives in accordance with the goals set by the company
  • Manage and lead SternDrive initiatives to drive Shop Floor Productivity, Material Cost Reductions, Back Office Productivity and Foundational topics. 
  • Represent AM-HUB in best-practice sharing during Regional Experience Sharing conferences.
  • Provide leadership for Shop Floor CI Champions
  • Work with the supervisory group to monitor production consistency and effectiveness of implementations to sustain Continuous Improvement/5S standards
  • Continuously reviews culture for growth and alignment with Continuous Improvement/5S objectives and provides feedback to Management. 
  • Seeks out opportunities to improve team member knowledge base.  
  • Assist management team in development and execution of Operations plan to support Stern Drive and growth in MTPA-Mettler Toledo Plant Assessment criteria.
  • Change Agent: providing support for SQDC, 5S, leading small production team's improvement initiatives, support of CI project implementations, and any other lean projects
  • Drive End to End Value Stream Mapping to identify kaizen bursts to drive continuous improvement initiatives across all the processes and deliver on the Future State VSM.
  • Drive CI-Lean self-assessment to identify opportunities and develop a CIP-Continuous Improvement Plan to demonstrate progress.   

What You Need to Succeed

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (e.g. Industrial System, Engineering Technology, Mechanical) is preferred. (4 year degree is required)
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification is preferred

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field or position is desired
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Lean Manufacturing Techniques, and general management principles
  • Formal or informal leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement
  • Experience in root cause analysis
  • Experience working in a fast paced team oriented environment.
