Mettler Toledo AutoChem, a strategic business unit within Mettler Toledo, designs, manufactures and services instruments that provide integrated solutions to research scientists in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical industries. Our laboratory instruments enable scientists to reduce the time required to discover and develop new chemical compounds, allowing them to bring new products to market faster.

We are currently searching for a Product Manager Intern to
support technical product marketing and Research and Development (R&D) activities for the Particle System Characterization (PSC) and Reaction Analysis (RA) product lines.  This includes laboratory experimentation, data handling, as well as logistics and operations support of our field demonstration equipment. Experiments will be designed to mirror the current state of the art in pharmaceutical batch reaction, crystallization, and formulation processes.  This position will support product testing activities of ReactIR, ReactRaman, EasyViewer, and ParticleTrack cutting edge technical hardware and software.

Your responsibilities would include:
  • Support Project Management and R&D Laboratory experimentation and data handling activities
    • Run R&D laboratory experiments in crystallization, organic chemistry, and solid/liquid dispersion experiments
    • Manage, analyze, and report on generated data
    • Support strategic software evaluation and testing
    • Gain proficiency in Autochem software packages to operate all necessary tests
    • Contribute to instrument studies as needed, extending performance testing and verification to experiments and then data analysis as necessary
    • Maintain the laboratory in a neat and organized manner
  • Logistics and asset management of equipment 
    • Performance validation, troubleshooting, and basic repairs for all field equipment
    • Logging performance and quality statistics
    • Maintain operations checklist to ensure complete equipment kits upon shipments 
    • Maintain spreadsheet to track location of systems and the primary contact for each
    • Ensure equipment inventory is functioning properly and according to specifications
    • Assist with logistics, scheduling, and tracking equipment to avoid conflicts

What You Need to Succeed

  • Actively pursuing or possess a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Experience in a chemistry lab at the college level
  • A strong scientific and technical background 
  • Open and effective communication style, excellent public presentation skills, strong people skills, cross-organizational teamwork
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organized problem solving skills
