Senior Software Engineer

The Software Center of METTLER TOLEDO AutoChem (www.mt.com/autochem) is searching for a motivated, ambitious team player to fill a senior level Software Engineer position at our Columbia, MD facility.  We are looking for someone who loves science and technology and is passionate about developing a high quality product.  Ideal candidates are problem solvers and will accept challenges, ask questions, and work collaboratively with team members. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include:

  • Designing and implementing software based on SOLID object oriented design principles
  • Writing code that is easy to read, maintainable and extendable
  • Writing and maintaining software unit tests
  • Analyzing and solving complex technical problems
  • Designing, prototyping and developing user interface components
  • Providing process improvement ideas and best practices for use throughout the development community
  • Developing and maintaining software requirements
  • Performing software testing using formal test cases
  • Developing and reviewing software development project artifacts and documents
  • Assisting and mentoring less senior software development resources

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Five years software development experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of experience using current development tools for building desktop applications running under Windows
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment utilizing a state of the art product development lifecycle management framework and supporting tools
  • Thorough knowledge of SOLID object oriented design principles
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server a plus
  • Experience with the following tools: VisualStudio, .Net, C#, WPF, and Team Foundation Server
  • Familiarity with UI design principles
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and support complex software products
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UML
  • Experience with SAP (highly preferred)
  • Ability to lead and mentor less senior developers
