The Sourcing Engineer will work in tandem with the Category Manager to deliver total cost of ownership optimization. They would drive standardization and utilization of preferred suppliers optimizing the US regional supplier base.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Procurement strategy development and implementation for mechanical designed parts in close collaboration with a category manager
  • Supplier evaluation and selection, strategic supplier management, perform supplier audits, and support supplier performance reviews and negotiations
  • Assist in the implementation of Mettler Toledo Design Standard guidelines
  • Identify and implement technical cost reductions applying best practices such as Value Engineering methodology
  • Work in close collaboration with R&D, project and product managers for product development and engineering change activities. Establish yourself as the go-to technical expert for mechanical designed parts
  • Coordinate multi-unit, cross-functional global projects and support both regional and global implementations
  • Single-point of contact for dedicated US business units as coordinator within global procurement
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering with 3-5 years experience, Master's degree preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically some international 
  • Experience in R&D, supply chain management, consulting, key account management or related field
  • Experience in working within a global, cross-functional and multicultural environment
  • Open-minded and engaged personality
  • Solid financial acumen and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate ideas and push them through without having the authority to give directives
  • Presentation skills for all levels of a global organization
  • Proficient user of MS Office, SAP and IT savvy in general
  • Ability to effectively present information and react to questions and requests from all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills are required. German and Chinese language skills are a plus.
