Product Management Analyst

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

The Lab Product Management Analyst is one of several similar roles, each with a focus on a specific portion of our product portfolio. The role is key to making sure products are sellable. They maintain the product portfolio in day-to-day operations as well as managing new product launches. This individual provides sales support, serves as a technical expert, and supports marketing activities to drive lead growth. The individual interacts with many teams, including sales, global SBU, logistics, pricing, other teams within MT, external vendors, and customers. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Product Management activities for the US and Canada including: 
  • Responsible for product management of portfolio from launch through end-of-life and all the day to day activities
  • Determine which products from the portfolio should be available in the US, coordinate logistics extensions and manage associated content 
  • Assist in setting and assessing pricing/discount strategies; work with our team to ensure pricing updates are accurate in our business operation systems 
  • Provide sales support; will mainly be focused on addressing product and operational challenges however can expand beyond
  • Closely monitor quality issues to determine if fixes are needed, and provide feedback to the SBU 
  • Manage backlog, inventory, forecasting, logistics, and supply chain by working closely with both national and international hubs as well as various sales teams 
  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with third party suppliers that are key to operations 
  • Maintain relationships with third party suppliers that are key to operations
  • Gather feedback on product portfolio from sales channels and customer support teams to help define future product requirements 
  • Closely collaborate with the Channel Team, ensuring our portfolio is up to date on dealer websites and that content is suitable 
  • Be an engaged member of the Lab Market Management Team, striving to reach our collective goal for quality lead generation 
  • Proactive communication within our teams (marketing, operations, and leadership, as well as our field sales and service channels (reps, techs, and leaders) 
  • Provides regular status report of activities and progress vs. planned outcomes/results 
  • Actively engages and supports the extended team market activities 
  • Works closely with the Lab Market Management Team to support the overall business strategy and make sure it meets business objectives 
  • Serve as the technical expert for the team, closely collaborating on special projects to advance the business 
  • Is an engaged member of the team and strives for our collective goal of quality lead generation 
  • Supports projects that will help the Business Area continually grow and learn about its customers and product needs 
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or other Physical Science is preferred. 
  • Excellence in interpersonal/communication skills, professional maturity, and the ability to work with minimum supervision - a self-starter with strong organization, prioritization and time management skills 
  • Prior product management experience supporting a technical product is ideal; however, a candidate who is looking to move from the laboratory, sales, or other technical discipline, into a product management position and possesses the requisite technical acumen will be considered 
  • Technical competence and knowledge depending on product line of support; applicable examples include engineering, biology, analytical chemistry or material science. Some products of support strongly benefit with candidates with Laboratory experience with automated lab analytical instruments. 
  • Prior experience with METTLER TOLEDO lab products and of the METTLER TOLEDO lab group’s core industries (food/beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical) or sales channels is helpful. 
  • Significant experience with ERP and/or CRM systems; SAP preferred
