Software Requirements Engineer

Our Software Team is looking for a self-motivated, ambitious team player to fill a Software Requirements Engineer role.  We are looking for someone who loves science and technology and can provide the expertise needed to capture key use cases for software requirements of our AutoChem software products.  Ideal candidates are problem solvers with a background in chemistry.  Job duties may include development, documentation and maintenance of the requirements integral to software systems as well as managing changes to the requirements as necessary. The requirements engineer must be able to operate independently and exercise personal initiative in successfully completing assigned tasks. The position requires technical leadership and teamwork with multi-disciplined team members. 

Responsibilities will include:
  • Creates and defines system requirements, system specifications and user interactions with the system 
  • Obtains inputs from internal or external sources and integrates inputs into product requirements to achieve engineering goals. Coordinates requirement clarification activities with team members. 
  • Documents and manages requirement changes, including change request justification 
  • Provides input on product requirements and translates product requirements into component or Subsystem Specifications
  • Leads requirement verification and validation process, with good understanding for system level design, development and testing to assess performance against design specification
  • Trains other product owners or requirement engineers on the defined requirement engineering processes and helps drive and contribute to continuous improvement of these processes 
  • Excellent understanding of the software lifecycle and maintains the effectiveness of the quality system
  • Understands relevant compliance and regulatory information (e g. 21CFR11, GDPR, etc.)
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally, up to 10% travel is anticipated

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science or closely related discipline  
  • Minimum 5 years in relevant work experience in product development or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Strong experience in development tools on DevOps and agile software development 
  • Ability to apply engineering technical knowledge in specified engineering discipline for subsystem development
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex system analysis and requirement specifications
  • Knowledge in regulations such as Quality Management System and 21 CFR part 11 or GxP relevant
  • Good understanding of Use Case 2.0 method and use case modelling experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Modern Requirements for DevOps (MR4DO), IBM Rational Doors or similar requirements management tool
  • Strong team player and can work independently
  • Open and effective communication style, excellent public presentation skills, and the ability to interact with, and influence, key stakeholders. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Sound judgment, analytical skills, decision-making skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrated experience working on multiple tasks for multiple projects with changing priorities and successfully meeting deadlines and requirements
  • SAP knowledge a plus
