Production Planner

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

We are looking for a Production Planner to join our team in Salford. The Production Planner will build schedule to meet business and customer needs by loading and scheduling orders in line with work centre capacities, materials availability, customer needs and the business plan.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Discuss and resolve constraints with the Production and Purchasing teams. 
  • Respond to customer amendments and expedite requests as required to maximise customer satisfaction without jeopardising business performance.
  • Manage part built and finished stock levels by defining and adjusting target stocks in line with business strategy and demand variations. Ensure that replenishment orders are launched and delivered on time to maintain target levels.
  • Manage 'cancelled heads', finished goods and part built stock so that every opportunity is taken to use these parts to satisfy customer orders. Monitor and maintain the accuracy of extranet stock information to customers. 
  • Continue to develop Planning systems In conjunction with Production Management develop tools to smooth loading across work stations and deliver an accurate 'Work To' report.
  • Provide support to Operations, Sales Order Processing, Purchasing and other departments as required to deliver Business objectives and strategy.
  • Maintain business KPI's as required.
  • Drive and assist initiatives to promote and implement improved planning and scheduling methodology, 5S, 'Right First Time', 'Continual improvement' and Lean. 
  • Provide cover as required for other members of the Logistics team to ensure continuity of service.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Experience of working within a Production Planning environment.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Very approachable and professional with internal and external customers.
  • Flexible ‘multi-tasker’ able to remain calm under pressure and effectively prioritise tasks.
  • Very good computer literacy (eg MS Office & SAP)
