Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer - is responsible for developing, guiding, coordinating, and championing Quality Assurance and Process Improvement efforts at Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection in Lutz Florida. This position will be directly working with Sales, Service, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Engineering in quality functions that are listed below.

This position requires an experienced Quality/Manufacturing professional that is able to facilitate and drive change in a fast paced and “ever changing” environment leveraging his/her strong interpersonal skills.  Key to success in this position is the ability to analyze, perform root cause analysis, and implement change to continuously improve the quality of products and processes. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Identifies and ensures that departments are using structured problem solving methods to resolve issues. Examples of tools include: 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone diagram, 6 Sigma techniques, SPC techniques, 8D, A3, and COPQ techniques and others.

·       Take ownership of tracking, documenting and driving improvements to reduce overall costs while improving quality – oversee and spot check all documentation to ensure compliance to safety and corporate guidelines.

·       Ability to analyze, perform root cause analysis, and implement change to continuously improve the quality of products and processes. 

·       Participate in technical specification reviews by providing quality-related specialized knowledge and guidance

·       Provide training to the organization on the use of quality improvement tools

·       Assist with developing, documenting, and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, work processes, tools and systems in the production department and audit to make sure they are followed

·       Actively pursue quality improvement strategies aimed at reducing costs, increasing customer satisfaction, and improving financial performance.

·       Work to standardize best practices across product offerings relative to the Quality Management System.

·       Follows all shop safety requirements and uses all material safely

·       Always consider the companies Green Initiative when planning activities or disposing of material or other assets

·       Other duties and tasks as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

·       Ability to perform root cause analysis.  Experience with using 8D, A3, 5 Why analysis and other quality tools.

·       Ability to use Quality practices including statistical analysis, auditing, and process control.

·       Willing to work overtime as needed to support production and customer needs.

·       Develop and maintain good working relationships with all departments.

·       Excellent verbal & written communication skills

·       Works well in a team oriented environment with strong consensus building skills. 

·       Have a hands-on style and a willingness to perform a range of detail-level work, i.e. a doer rather than an administrator.

·       Strong attention to detail

·       Ability to work independently without close supervision

·       Ability to use Microsoft excel & word

Minimum Education / Experience Required:

·       Associate or Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering related field (or comparable on-the-job experience). 

·       Minimum 2 years QC or Manufacturing Engineering experience
