Laboratory Field Service Technician

This position is responsible for performing installation, preventative maintenance, calibrations, certifications, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing industry related products at customer locations. This position should also be able to diagnose and repair most competitive products found in the local area, and demonstrate competency in configuration and interfaces between computers, and other control devices. Responsible for resolving first line customer service issues and accurate completion of documentation and related service reports. Leads efforts to modernize, upgrade and convert customer existing equipment.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs all Mettler Toledo products within the Business Group. 
  • Performs system and equipment installations, calibrations and preventative maintenance duties as required. 
  • Ensures customer uptime requirements are met and that assigned PM work is completed on time. 
  • Reviews and signs off on all completed assignments and applicable documentation. 
  • Collaborates with Mettler Toledo sales employees to determine customer requirements, which may include performing joint sales calls. 
  • Complies with ISO & Measurement Canada standards. 
  • Assists and cooperates with Service Support Representatives whenever necessary. 
  • Leads the efforts in promoting and selling service products. 
  • Responsible for assisting in the resolution of customer complaints and documentation problems. 
  • Follows prescribed procedures for expenses including the local purchasing of parts. 
  • Responsible for or assists with project management activities. 
  • Submits Leads and assists in effort to modernize, upgrade and convert customer existing equipment). 
  • Maintains productivity levels as determined by Leader and in accordance with established KPI's.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Minimum 2-year college diploma or degree in Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Technology or Computer Science. or equivalent education and experience in a technical support role, technical troubleshooting or technical installation in industrial electronics, or electromechanical technology industry.
  • Advanced computer skills are required. 
  • Overnight travel is required to maximize efficiency while performing regular duties. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and may require a DZ class license. 
  • Must be available to work flexible hours. 
  • All other duties as assigned.
