Quality Assurance Laboratory and Calibration Associate

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

This is an entry level position in the Quality Assurance department, performing a mix of laboratory, data management and calibration documentation duties. 

• The laboratory work includes assisting with routine Quality Control testing of product for the presence of Endotoxin, DNAse, RNAse, DNA, ATP, Protein and Protease.  Work is conducted using equipment such as spectrophotometers, microplate readers, Quantitative PCR equipment, pipettes and other laboratory bench top equipment.  

• The second principle responsibility is managing records of calibrated equipment, including reviewing calibration certificates and maintaining calibration data in a data system. 

• The associate will be responsible for reviewing and electronically filing sterilization certificates.

• In addition, the associate will occasionally conduct FT-IR analysis, conduct statistical analysis, assist in management of laboratory supply stock, optimize protocols, perform ISO9001 audits and various other Quality Assurance tasks.

• A successful candidate will have basic laboratory skills, have aptitude for mathematics, strong written English skills, be detail oriented, be organized, learn fast and work well with a team.

Education and/or Experience:
College 2-4 year degree, or High School education with 2-3 years of experience working in a comparable manufacturing or laboratory research environment.  Experience in a Quality Assurance department preferred. A chemistry or biology background including college experience preferred. Experience in molecular biology laboratory testing protocols preferred.  Experience performing internal or floor audits in a manufacturing environment and/or certification as an internal auditor is a strong plus.

Language Skills:  
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write test reports, audit reports and procedures in clear and proper English grammar.  Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:    
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole and fractional numbers.  Able to perform or learn to perform statistical analysis of data using analysis tools such as MiniTab or other similar tools a strong plus. Understanding of basic metrology a strong plus.

Reasoning Ability:  
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills
Previous use and knowledge of SAP, Infinity QS Proficient or similar ERP and QC data systems a plus.  Ability to learn to utilize such systems a requirement.  Experience in or ability to learn complex tasks using MS Office programs (Word and Excel) a requirement.
