Sales Engineering Supervisor

Role/Purpose:

The Sales Engineering Supervisor is responsible for working with the Sales Engineering Manager in leading and supervising the Sales Engineering Quote Team for the defined product line within the Product Inspection sales department while ensuring that company standards are achieved and maintained with a targeted emphasis on continuous improvement, providing support, structure and documented formalized training for employee development. The position requires a hands-on, self-starter with the ability to motivate and lead subordinates and others. You must also be a skilled communicator who is able to convey information, ideas and policy to all levels within the organization.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Sales Engineering team to include managing time off request and approvals.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quote output metrics are achieved at targeted levels.
  • Creates quotation for the defined technology as well as cross train Sales Engineers on the team. This includes cross training across other technologies (outside of immediate team) to react to RFQ volume shifts.
  • Establish an efficient structure/process utilizing team members to improve the quote turn times, quote output accuracy and quality. 
  • Responsible for managing the performance of your employees to include Provide regular feedback and coaching through one-on-one meetings, team meetings and through the formal Global Performance Management process.
  • Create and complete quotations for each of your responsible technologies
  • Assist Sales Engineering Manager with strategic objectives
  • Responsible for developing and implementing process improvements of resource requirements.
  • Projects as assigned
  • Research required information using available resources
    • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Able to handle a hectic, fast pace, multi-task work environment, while maintaining a professional attitude.
  • High energy and determination to resolve customer quotations issues.
  • Good task and project management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with internal customers, sales representatives and co-workers, including maintaining positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness.
  • Demonstration of strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Maintain professional attitude with exceptional interpersonal skills. 

Minimum Education / Experience Required:
  • High School Diploma/GED Required 
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering preferred 
  • 5 years of relevant experience preferably as a sales engineer 
  • Experience with computerized office systems and software (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook)
  • Excellent working knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred.

Travel Requirements: 
  • This position has a travel requirement of 0-5%. Travel could include both domestic and international travel (by commercial or personal means, including economy class air travel).
