Embedded Software Engineer

In our global AutoChem business unit, we develop synthesis, sampling and reaction analysis tools for scientists in pharmaceutical and chemical industries. We provide scientists the information they need to deliver life-changing products. Join our R&D organization at our global operational headquarters in Nänikon-Greifensee and support the fast growing business opportunity within our unit as an Embedded Software Engineer 80-100% (f/m/d).

We are looking for a proactive doer who appreciates room for own decision-making and knows to utilize it towards high quality outputs.

In this role, you will:
  • Develop and maintain low-level C/C++ microcontroller and embedded Linux code for laboratory products across their complete product life cycle, i.e., from ideation to full maturity
  • Assume technical leadership for our most hardware-near software implementations within our product portfolio
  • Collaborate closely with adjacent disciplines such as hardware engineering, application testing, platform teams, product management, or our software engineering colleagues in an international environment
  • Mainly work in product development projects but also contribute in technology pre-studies or maintenance of life topics
  • Validate your designs for performance, testability, manufacturability and serviceability and document them accordingly

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent (ETH/Uni/FH)
  • Excellent programming skills in C/C++ and expertise with operating systems (RTOS, Linux). Knowledge about C#, Python, Matlab, or Yocto is a plus.
  • Knowledge of best practices and tooling for CI/CD pipelines, agile methods, automated testing, code quality
  • A passion for clean code and pragmatic, elegant design
  • Some years of relevant professional experience in software engineering preferred
  • Hands-on experience with electronics hardware and troubleshooting using oscilloscope and other tools
  • You are a quick learner with a good understanding for complex mechatronic systems
  • Fluent in English to work comfortably in an international environment. German language skills are a big plus.
