Field Service Engineer

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Our Field Service team represents the Mettler Toledo standard of ‘Trusted Advisors’ to our customers. This position requires you to be located in the Los Angeles area to provide coverage in the Southwest US territory. You will conduct on-site installations, provide customer training (hardware, software and limited applications), and perform equipment repairs and preventive maintenance for assigned instrumentation. You will also support and work in collaboration with North American Service Operations, Depot Repair, Field Service, Sales, Customer Service and Product Management.

Your responsibilities would include:

* Performing on-site installations, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance of our instrumentation, including infrared reaction profiling equipment, laser crystallization monitoring equipment, automated lab reactor and sampling solution systems, proprietary software and associated applications.

* Establishing and maintaining the "Trusted Advisor" role for all customer interactions by delivering exceptional customer service, expertise, product positioning, lead generation and training throughout the product lifecycle

* Attending and successfully completing instructor led service product training

* Documenting, communicating and managing customer issues with the Sales, Service and Support teams

What You Need to Succeed

* Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is a plus

* Minimum 4 years experience or equivalent education in electronic/electrical engineering environment with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electronic, electrical, mechanical, and computer systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Experience with Infrared, Optics, Lasers, HPLC, GC, Mass Spectrometry, or background in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is a plus
* Exceptional customer service skills and the demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced environment

* Excellent communication skills both oral and written - English required

* Valid driver’s license and good driving record

* Willingness and ability to travel on a daily basis (day trips, overnight, and extended overnight when necessary)

* SAP knowledge preferred
