Category Manager - Travel and Expense

As part of Global Supply Chain Management, Global Indirect Procurement is responsible for the strategic category and supplier management of all indirect categories. Under consideration of innovation, cost, quality and availability, we strive to develop procurement to become a competitive advantage for METTLER TOLEDO. We are hiring a Global Category Manager to support our Travel & Expense categories. 

 Your responsibilities will include: 
  • Develop and execute regional and global category strategies 
  • Develop and nurture strong stakeholder relationships with global leaders 
  • Conduct strategic sourcing initiatives covering multiple categories in a decentralized organization 
  • Gather and analyze indirect spend data to develop strategies and execute sourcing initiatives 
  • Effectively perform supplier management driving improvements in supply base by leading supplier performance reviews, holding collaborative sessions with suppliers (including senior management) 
  • Continuously improving the quality of supply chain by means of proactive exercise of influence and monitoring 
  • Provide support to global team members within Global Indirect Procurement 
  • Provide subject matter best practices and approaches within the Global Indirect Procurement team 
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities by driving change within the team and with stakeholders as needed for initiatives 
  • Lead and manage competitive bids, contract negotiations, and management approvals 
  • Negotiate consolidated spend through frame agreements with preferred suppliers, that set out prices, quality standards, cost-reduction improvement along agreement duration, delivery times, and commercial terms and conditions 
  • Achieve cost reductions and increase Global Indirect Procurement's reach in North America and globally while assuring sustainability and performance of the supplier base 
  • Lead regional key projects on indirect procurement, other duties may be assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree in business is required, preferably in Procurement/Sourcing/Supply Chain. An MBA is a plus
  • 7-10 years working experience in a supply chain role with knowledge of indirect sourcing. 
  • Must have a solid global market know-how of different areas within the travel and expense category plus knowledge of common travel & expense tools 
  • Strong negotiation and contracting skills with documented results 
  • Proven ability to deliver results in a decentralized organization on a defined schedule 
  • Demonstrated program management experience 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate with global team members, stakeholders, and suppliers at multiple levels and varying cultures 
  • Proven ability to effectively present information and react to questions and requests from all levels of an organization
  • Strong experience with spend analytics 
  • Proven experience implementing stakeholder and supplier management 
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills 
  • Proactive and self-motivated 
  • Solid financial acumen and strong analytical skills using Excel, SAP knowledge would be an asset 
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills are required. German and/or Chinese language skills are a plus 
  • The ability to work on-site in Worthington, OH
