Systems Test Engineer

Our Hardware R&D Team is looking to add a System Test Engineer, who is a self-motivated team player and acts as a problem solver, asks questions, and accepts challenges. This position will be responsible for evaluating and testing instrumentation and related accessories at all developing stages for the New Product Development Introduction (NPDI) projects. Guided by the product's software and hardware requirements and supported by R&D, this position is in charge of formulating manufacturing testing procedures, test plan execution, reporting issues, providing input to software and hardware teams based on testing results, and calibration of the instrumentations. This role also performs cross-platform testing and troubleshooting in response to requests from other divisions. Familiarity with hardware and software systems are essential for this position and must be able to adopt and execute the concept of design of experiments (DoEs).

Responsibilities will include:
  • Being hands-on and self-motivated with performing verification tests for new instrument products, existent and legacy products, and accessories
  • Executing critical thinking in analyzing the testing results, be well-organized in documenting the data, and collaborating with team members extensively to fulfill the tasks
  • Testing products in accordance with the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) schedule, engineering drawings, requirements specifications, procedures, etc.
  • Assisting in defining product quality specifications, testing criteria, and testing standards, as needed. Communicating, on a regular basis, with product marketing and the service department to assure the deliverables.    
  • Building and testing prototypes, pre-production, and zero series instruments and accessories in collaboration with R&D and software team members
  • Providing critical inputs in design reviews based on expertise
  • Working with the hardware and software teams, product marketing, and the service department to improve hardware functionality, software robustness, serviceability, and usability on a daily basis
  • Reviewing log files to determine and address the root causes of instrumentation issues
  • Willingness to learn new software/firmware for fulfilling the job duties
  • Willingness and ability to travel, up to 15%

What You Need to Succeed

·        Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

·        4 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience

·        Experience in an instrument company is a plus

·        Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Familiar with GLP is desired

·        Experience with Photonics or electronics is a plus

·        Experience in report generation software and data mining software is a plus

·        SAP knowledge a plus
