- Establish a vision and strategy for the payroll functions that are consistent with and contribute to the Company’s broader HR and business goals. Execute and be a key owner of the implementation of the strategy; operate as a working leader.
- Establish and maintain a culture of operational excellence that focuses on accuracy and the resolution of systemic issues using root cause analysis.
- Be the process owner for the payroll and time tracking functions for U.S. and Canada.
- Leverage relationship with payroll vendor to ensure timely and accurate execution of payroll deadlines.
- Ensure the time tracking system is working effectively and in compliance with applicable employment law.
- Ensure the most efficient and effective data interchange between payroll/time tracking systems and ERP/HRIS systems.
- Collaborate regularly with colleagues from Compliance, Legal, and external providers as necessary to ensure adherence to applicable local, state/provincial, and federal requirements.
- Assist the Head of Human Resources - NA with high-level administrative requirements, including operational budgets, management of accruals and payments, financial forecasts, and other similar tasks as deemed appropriate.
- Monitor trends and best practices in employee payroll and time tracking areas; benchmark MT policies and practices against market and against peer companies to assure that a competitive position is maintained.
- Understand and drive the connectivity to all financial requirements to ensure accurate extractions, posting, treatment and reporting of all payroll transactions.
- Lead or contribute to special projects as agreed with the Head of HR North America. Examples include: projects to centralize, consolidate, or harmonize other programs across the region, merger and acquisition activities requiring HR due diligence and payroll transition.
- Assume responsibilities for other duties, as may be assigned.
What You Need to Succeed
- An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in Business Administration or Human Resources; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- At least ten years of experience successfully performing similar functions and three years of leadership experience
- Previous experience with ADP solutions, Workforce Now experience is preferred
- Have demonstrated ability to organize, lead and develop a team effectively
- Have demonstrated ability to initiate and lead significant organizational change
- Have demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams with peer managers and others to achieve overall organizational goals
- Have demonstrated ability to drive improved operational performance in quality of service, client satisfaction, and cost management
- Have a hands-on style and a willingness to perform a range of detail-level work, i.e. a doer rather than an administrator or executive
- Utilize a customer-oriented mindset in serving the designated business units
- Able and willing to consider others' needs and perspectives when designing regional solutions
- Be committed to performance measurement, continuous improvement, and to providing client service that exceeds expectations
- Be comfortable and effective working in a flat organization and within a team-oriented culture, able to collaborate and influence colleagues without direct authority
