Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Develops new applications and products based on polymers or their derivatives

and/or automation systems, equipment and packaging technologies appropriate for such products. Extensive knowledge of polymers and their characteristics, capabilities, and processing is essential

  • Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified plastic materials as they apply to potential new Rainin products.
  • Evaluates materials for potential new applications in the Life Science market.
  • Confers with peers, managers and subordinates across structural lines relative to material selection, handling and processing issues as required.
  • Provides design information to R&D and Documentation staff for final release documentation and checks work output for accuracy.
  • Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures.
  • Resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
  • Help train & give guidance to other Rainin employees.
  • Works with limited supervision from project manager or functional manager on assigned projects.
  • Often works as an independent consultant on materials-related issues, as requested by functional manager.
  • Impact of errors in execution of assignments is high. Risks are major delays in project schedule, overspending project budgets, product failures in field and reduced margins due to faulty design decisions.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Minimum of BS and 7 years experience (5 years and MS) in related industry such as precision lab-grade consumables or products.
  • Masters degree in Polymer Engineering or Materials Science preferred.
  • Experience in ISO-certified design and manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Position is fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position
  • Advanced skills with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project.
