We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant within our Biotix Finance & Accounting Team located in San Diego, CA.
1. In this role, you will responsible for month end close duties and analysis for Biotix and its affiliates.
- Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process activities:
- Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations
- Prepares consolidation of financial statements for 3 companies. Including wholly owned foreign subsidiary and currency translation adjustment
- Prepare sales tax returns for all required nexus states monthly, quarterly, and annually
- Prepare annual property tax return
- Running reports, interpreting results, creating financial models and making recommendations on Accounting treatment
2. Manage fixed assets and related depreciation schedules
- Monthly tracking of all open CIP projects
- Coordination of new CAR requests
- Monthly recording of deprecation
- Maintain fixed asset database for all internal and external reporting
3. Assist in preparation of Annual Budget
- Operating expense analysis
- Roll forward of budget models
- Assist in preparation of reporting presentations and summaries
4. Responsible for various general ledger activities:
- Analyze and explain variances versus budget and year ago for various Balance Sheet accounts
- Analyze, explain and partner with the Operations team to provide value added reporting on inventory and related costs
- Analyze legal and patent related costs in order to prepare amortization and capitalization of costs
5. Manage the company’s SOX effort and coordinate with Parent company internal audit for reviews, audits and alignment on internal controls
What You Need to Succeed
- Candidates are required to hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of three to five years general ledger accounting experience required.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel required. Advanced formulas and functionality including but not limited to: if then, lookup functions, sumif, pivot tables, nested formulas
- Basic cost accounting knowledge and concepts required but prior experience not necessary.
- SAP experience a plus but not a requirement
- Spanish speaking a plus but not a requirement
- Organizational skills permitting the effective management of several concurrent projects and priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to complete work in a confidential manner and in a fast-working environment.
- Able to adapt quickly and understand the needs of teams and individuals working toward solutions.
