Test Technician II

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Production Manager, this role will be responsible for building, testing, troubleshooting and repairing complex Electro/Optomechanical assemblies and systems.


This will involve assembly and testing of Mechanical, Optical, Fiber Optic and Electronic components and products to meet the production schedule.

Work includes production and repair of customer returns. Qualified candidates will possess strong board troubleshooting (to component level) and mechanical skills, experience using DVM, Oscilloscope, hand tools and excellent soldering skills.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble and test electro-mechanical units
  • Calibration, alignment, and testing of optical assemblies
  • In-process and final testing of products in accordance with released drawings, specifications, and procedures.
  • Operate electronic test equipment
  • Troubleshoot electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Perform rework operations
  • Follow documentation and instructions for equipment and processes
  • Read and comprehend detailed assembly instructions and drawings; Hand solder, crimp, and package; Visually inspect circuits; Operate a computer, balance counter, and count material; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

What You Need to Succeed

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Associates degree or 2 year Certificate of Completion in electronics or related field – BS in electronics or related field preferred or
  • Min 5 year's experience in as System technician, Production technician, Electronics technician or in a close related field working on high complex optical systems.
  • Basic electronics and circuit analysis skills;
  • Familiar with FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) systems, Interferometers and Small IR (Infrared) optics, and Fiber Optics assembly is a plus!
  • Basic understanding of fiber optics and lasers;
  • Ability to communication effectively with co-workers; written communication skills necessary to complete manufacturing documentation; ability to comprehend manufacturing test procedures;
  • Ability to work independently;

COMPUTER SKILLS : general use of computers, specifically MS Word & MS Excel


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit.
