Lead Field Service Technician Pipettes

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Mettler Toledo Rainin is looking for a Lead Field Service Technician to work at customer sites within the San Francisco Bay area to service and calibrate Rainin and other brands of pipettes. The Lead will assist the Area Service Leader by providing front line technical and administrative support to Field Service Technicians within the assigned area.  The Lead will also conduct mechanical and electronic measuring, recording, and inspection on pipettes serviced to ensure conformance to established specifications.

Responsibilities would include:
  • Providing on the job training & mentoring new hires while working at our customer sites.
  • Training Technicians assigned to them in completing timecards, expense reports, and other monthly reports. Ensuring these reports are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Facilitating the completion & timely submission of any assigned trainings by Field Service Technicians in the assigned territory.
  • Working with the Onsite Coordinator to ensure all equipment for team members is maintained and serviced in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring Proficiency Testing Data for team members are completed & submitted on time.
  • Responing to daily work/service related questions from team members.
  • Following daily service visit schedules through careful coordination with their Area Service Leader. 
  • Driveing to customer sites to provide onsite pipette service according to the service schedule, including use of personal vehicle when needed.
  • While on site at customer facilities, the Field Service Tech provides pipette repair and calibration services.
  • Completing service reports and expense reports and is responsible for maintaining service equipment and parts inventory. 
  • Provideing Rainin Sales with customer leads for potential new product purchases
  • Travel out of local area of up to 50% of the time required to support the business, including overnight travel up to 25% of the time.

What You Need to Succeed

High school diploma or GED and three years of experience related to pipette calibration or equivalent combination of education and prior work experience. 
Previous knowledge or work experience with pipettes.               
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  
Ability to write correspondence.  
Ability to effectively present verbal information to customers and other employees of the organization.               
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Knowledge of computers and a working knowledge of common Microsoft Office programs
A valid driver license and a clean driving record
