Continuous Improvement Assembly Leader

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Creating an efficient, effective, and dependable set of processes focusing on the elimination of waste in Assembly

Actively pursuing continuous improvement strategies aimed at reducing costs, increasing customer satisfaction, and improving financial performance

Working with Assembly Managers and Manufacturing Engineers to effectively integrate and connect Lean techniques and tools across all value streams

Ensures that Teams are using structured problem solving methods, examples of the tools include: 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone diagrams, 6 Sigma techniques, SPC techniques and others.

Work with leadership teams to define the current and future state Value Streams to plan and prioritize continuous improvement activities.

Provide leadership / mentoring / training to all levels of the organization on the use and practice of Lean methodology and tools (VSM, 5S, Kaizen, SMED, “Design for Lean”, MDI, etc…)

Facilitate the 5S process in all areas of the facility.

Support the PIUS Stern Drive tracker and facilitate team meetings to ensure the projects are being completed on time.

Support the MTPA Assessment process with the corporate assessors and staff to ensure gaps in our manufacturing technical procedures are identified and closed.

Ensure that all financial, operational and customer improvements are realized and sustained through regular audits.

Act as a key driver of change within the business, supporting management/cross functional decisions by communicating the enterprise-wide changes to employees and helping them to learn, understand, adjust and grow with the business’s Lean transformation.

Leverage Lean principles to assist in the design and execution of new manufacturing processes, methodologies and equipment layouts to improve overall equipment effectiveness.

Develop a culture that strongly values excellence in customer service and quality, and rewards and recognizes achievements in these areas

Assure that effective work processes, tools and systems are developed, documented, and maintained

Establish and maintain data collection and performance measurements to track performance in key areas such as the reduction of waste in Assembly

Have a working knowledge of proven continuous improvement methodologies and use these tools to drive improvement in key performance measures.  Examples:  SPC, TQM, JIT, Lean, etc./

Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50lbs

What You Need to Succeed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Have demonstrated ability to initiate and lead significant change

Have demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams with peer managers and others to achieve overall organizational goals

Have an absolute commitment to and passion for achieving Continuous Improvement in a made to order technical product focused environment

Have strong analytical skills and process focus

Have a high energy level and drive required to lead  critical functional areas within a dynamic business unit

Have strong persuasive skills and the ability to exercise influence beyond direct authority

Ability to train others  in lean manufacturing technical skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Minimum Education / Experience Required:

Five years or more experience successfully leading Continuous Improvements efforts

BS/BA in related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and extensive experience

Minimum of green belt – Black belt preferred
