Electrical Engineer

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

The role of an Electrical Engineer is to ensure our projects and products are designed within budgeted time/material costs, on schedule and to the required customer specifications/Mettler Toledo safety and quality standards. Working closely with Sales, R&D, Product Management, Project Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Production and Service we will form an operational team that will communicate constantly to ensure the smooth running of Mettler Toledo's business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Design projects and products which includes 2D modeled drawings, bill of materials, procedures, manufacturability and cost impact reviews
* Maintain electrical design templates and repositories
* Ensure successful hand-over to production
* Support production in person to troubleshoot, analyze and resolve design issues as well as answer complex questions
* Review engineering drawings, analyze design and retrieve information to complete drawings layouts or designs
* Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
* Use detail drawings or engineering specifications to dimension, scale or locate
* Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability and throughput
* Solve complex problems with manufacturing/service departments, suppliers, and customers
* Ensure coordination with Sales, R&D, Software, Product Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production and Service to satisfy customer requirements
* Responsible for sustaining engineering support for on-going Root Cause Analyses
* Ensure system and product design are in line with Risk Assessment, Safe Electrical Design and Safety Related Parts of the Control System guidelines
* Works with production to understand our process capabilities and develop ideas that reduce costs and improve quality
* Recognize and solve potential problems
* Accurately track and record time spent on projects
* Adheres to all company policies and procedures
* Other duties and tasks as assigned

What You Need to Succeed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Trouble shooting skills
  • Technical knowledge
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and changing priorities in a high pressure environment
  • Self-starter
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent understanding on how to use a multi-meter and oscilloscope  
  • Highly Skilled with AutoCAD Electrical and Eplan
  • Familiar in Nema12/4/4x & IP52/65/69K requirements
  • Familiar with UL 508A and NFPA 79

Minimum Education / Experience Required:

  • Bachelors of Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Degree
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in AutoCAD Electrical and EPlan
  • Experience in machinery design in a manufacturing environment
