Summary
This position is responsible for supporting and executing Mettler-Toledo’s regional trade compliance strategies and managing the Global Trade Compliance Shared Services team based in Columbus, Ohio. The position will engage with Mettler-Toledo’s business units to implement and enforce trade compliance requirements. A successful candidate for this position should be a knowledge leader in the area of trade compliance with a proven track in Customs Compliance and be able to support the development of regional strategies for trade compliance in accordance with the global trade compliance strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage import/export processes, including classification, valuation, licensing, and documentation requirements, to facilitate the smooth flow of goods across borders while minimizing delays and costs
• Manage & mentor import/export compliance personnel and develop staff including hiring, goal setting, performance, coaching ,teamwork and projects.
• Secure high service level for all Shared Service Functions provided including but not limited to, product classification, FTA assessment, broker management, audits, exports, and more
• Monitor customs and trade regulation and their implications and prepare operational procedures accordingly
• Serve as a subject matter expert on customs compliance matters, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders on complex issues and transactions
• Successfully interact with various government agencies
• Elaborate common practices & process improvements and assess potential of automation
• Oversee & enhance broker performance reporting & performance management
• Develop regional customs KPI cockpit (US import/export)
• Collaborate with global TC peers and evaluate benefits of shared processes and procedure
• Develop and provide expertise and input to standard Training requirements in line with regional TC training concepts & assist with training preparation and delivery of training (internal or external to MT as certain supplier training is stated in CTPAT program)
• Work as a contributing member on cross-functional and multinational teams to ensure trade procedures are in place and being followed
