New Account Sales Rep, Boston

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Mettler Toledo Rainin is looking for a New Accounts Sales Representative to join our Sales team in the Boston Area. This position is a true "hunter" and is responsible for identifying new and under-penetrated accounts where Rainin manual liquid handling solutions would be an ideal fit.  The New Accounts Sales Representative will be responsible for identifying target accounts and making prospecting calls/visits.

Utilizing a value-selling approach, the New Account Sales Rep will establish relationships with decision-makers and stakeholders including end-users, procurement managers, and scientific operations leaders to drive initial adoption of Rainin solutions. The New Account Sales Rep will work closely with Field Sales and Inside Sales Representatives to transition new customers to these adjacent sales teams for ongoing support and to further drive sales growth.    

The ideal candidate will use Life Science Sales experience to identify, target, prospect and acquire new and underpenetrated accounts.   

New Account Selling and Strategies
  • Works to meet quarterly targets by identifying new and underpenetrated accounts, and conducts prospecting by phone, email, in person through onsite activities such as vendor shows and other networking opportunities to drive adoption of Rainin products. 
  • Sells manual liquid handling instruments, consumables, service, and software solutions to new and underpenetrated accounts.
  • Initiates contact with key stakeholders and decision-makers in new accounts to identify and qualify manual liquid handling solutions. 
  • Conducts on-site and remote seminars on topics such as pipette asset management, pipette techniques, application, ergonomics, and care and maintenance.
  • Utilizes sales program introductory and discretionary quotes effectively.

Manages a pipeline of new account prospects while optimizing transition of new accounts to Field Account Managers or Inside Sales Account Managers
  • Maintains robust prospect target list and sales funnel.
  • Responds quickly and effectively to all incoming leads.
  • Manages and optimizes the account transition from New Account Rep to Field and Inside Account Managers.
  • Uses internal  and external tools to identify target  prospect accounts
  • Travels through assigned territory to call on prospective customers to solicit orders.
  • Ensures timely lead follow-up through telemarketing activities, literature and samples fulfillment.
  • Joins local professional organizations that represent the Company’s customer base.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a life sciences discipline
  • 2 or more years of customer-facing experience in the Life Science Research marketplace
  • Experience identifying new business opportunities and onboarding new customers in the Life Science Research marketplace
  • Computer skills:  SAP CRM, Excel, Remote Meeting Tools, Email tools
