HR Administrator (part time)

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities


We are recruiting for a HR Administrator to join our HR team in Royston on a part-time basis. 

The HR Administrator will provide day to day HR administrative and first level advisory support to employees whilst contributing to the long‐term development of the HR function and employee experience.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide administrative support for the HR team including arranging interview meetings, employee relations meetings, note taking, new starter joining meetings, induction and training records and employee acknowledgements.
  • Recruitment – Updating job descriptions, person specifications, maintaining Avature- (recruitment system).  Liaising between Talent Acquisition, HR and Hiring manager.
  • Assist in facilitating smooth on-boarding process, including welcome and administrative preparations for first day; Manage the leaver administration process.
  • Administration of HR System personnel records with the HR Shared Services team for issues relating to variations, new starters, leavers, absence reporting, change of employee status in conjunction with HR Officer.
  • Support first stage disciplinary and grievance meetings.
  • Handle maternity, paternity, adoption and parental leave processes and queries.
  • Administer probationary review periods; changes to contractual terms as required.
  • Manage employee sickness cases and absences in accordance with Absence Policy.
  • Maintain personnel filing system in line with GDPR employee records; Oversee e-personnel project - PeopleDoc.
  • Coverage of reception desk.
  • Assist the HR Manager and HR Officer with the development and maintenance of people-related policies and procedures.
  • Assist HR team in co-ordination of Employee Engagement and Health & Wellbeing activities.
  • Carry out any other reasonable ad hoc/duties in order to support the HR function.

What You Need to Succeed

  • CIPD Certificate in HR practice (Level 3) or experience in a similar role.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills and ability to interact with suppliers, peers, employees, and external agencies.
  • Ability to generate trust and establish working relationships quickly within the unit.
  • Proven self-starter.
  • Shows a strong willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of integrity and commitment.
  • Experience using Avature or another Application Tracking System (ATS) would be beneficial.
