Operations Manager (Technical)

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Mettler Toledo Rainin is currently seeking a Technical Operations Manager to ensure all Technical Molding, Automation, and Production Assistant team members are trained, motivated, and prepared to successfully meet all daily production demands.
  • Build a culture of safety first: manage and implement safety initiatives, ensuring OSHA compliance and aim for zero incidents
  • Promote collaborative and innovative teamwork within organization- instill data based philosophy for problem solving and innovation  
  • Optimize use of capital equipment, material and human resources to achieve the highest quality production at the lowest cost. 
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to direct reports to achieve business, operational and quality objectives, plans, and performance goals. 
  • Build strong infrastructure within department by communicating processes, integrated timelines, goals and expectations.
  • Drive technology development, departmental strategy, and planning for Technical Operations.  Ensure department’s business, operational and quality objectives and plans are aligned.
  • Development and integration of automation technologies; in conjunction with implementing lean manufacturing principles and processes.
  • Project leadership and management of activities for injection molding tooling required to support new product:  planning, organizing, and execution of major projects to successful completion with emphasis on timing, budget, and business performance.  Includes close collaboration with R&D, Marketing, Design, and manufacturing teams.
  • Identify, escalate, and facilitate resolution of manufacturing, supply chain, or quality issues that may adversely affect performance goals.  Investigate, analyze, report, and track company and industry trends and apply lessons to molding strategy and tactics.
  • Support the development of partnerships with North America, Asia, and European business partners to successfully introduce new product design.
  • Establishment of clear and precise objectives and activities to reach a final result. 
  • Organize and coordinate people and resources to execute on objectives/goals defined in project plan.
  • Monitor and maintain project progress; including project progress reporting to key stakeholders. 
  • Identification of required changes and management of mechanisms for invoking change.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technical discipline OR 5+ years of equivalent experience working in a technical position
  • Leadership / Management experience building teams and collaborating across an organization  (3+ years)
  • Technical experience working within Injection Molding and Automated Assembly operations (5+ years)
  • Continuous improvement / Lean / 6 sigma skills
  • As a bonus, we would prefer experience including MBA, Black Belt Lean Six Sigma Certification, RJG Plastic Injection Molding Technical Training Certification or equivalent, associates degree in automation technology or a related field, experience and technical training/certification in robotics computer science, mechanics, electronics, machinery, human-machine interfaces, PLC and process controls, experience in a high-volume plastic disposables, work experience using SAP, language skills in Spanish in addition to English
