Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Summary:  The Product Inspection Demonstration Bus drives in the US and Canada throughout the year, visiting manufacturing plants, and facilitating the effective demonstration of our equipment by the Sales Team to customers and prospects.  The bus is an extremely important tool used to generate leads and close sales.  The Demonstration Bus Driver typically flies to the bus in route, drives for a two-week period, and is often required to drive on the weekend to get the bus to the next planned location before flying back home for a two-week break.  The driver must be an extremely flexible and professional individual with a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Drive the bus to prospect and customer plants throughout the US.
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor, which includes dress and behavior, fitting of a Mettler Toledo representative.
  • Operate the bus with a high level of safety and report any incidents.
  • Identify and report current or future repair work needed in order to keep the bus at an optimum performance level.  Act as primary point of contact with repair shop personnel to insure timely and cost effective repair work.
  • Track and procure routine maintenance, including both engine and generator servicing.
  • Keep the bus and all equipment at a pristine, show-quality level of cleanliness.
  • Follow designated protocol to keep bus interior sanitized and stocked with PPE at all times.
  • Adhere to all DOT and state regulations, including the use of the Omnitracs Electronic Logging Device and purchase of proper trip permits.
  • Adhere to all company policies related to payroll, expenses, travel, company property, etc.
  • Submit all receipts for expenses charged to fuel card and company credit card by the 15th of the month.
  • Act as an point of contact with MT service personnel when machine repairs are required.
  • Clearly communicate and adhere to schedules with all stakeholders (RSMs, CPs, Manager, Service Personnel, Repair Companies, etc.) to ensure a smooth running bus program.
  • Utilize on-board equipment and software to capture and submit visitor lead information.  Be available to guide visitors in lead capture activities.
  • Demonstrate an attitude of teamwork and cooperation with other bus driver(s) in order to facilitate the smooth operation of the bus program and transition of assignments.
  • Restock literature on the bus, making sure racks are always full.
  • Pass annual physical exam.

  • Channel Partners and Mettler Toledo sales managers.
  • Internal Mettler Toledo employees.
  • Other PI Demo Bus driver(s).
  • All drivers sharing the roadway – the bus is a mobile billboard for Mettler Toledo.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Excellent driving and navigational skills as demonstrated by a safe driving record.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • CDL Class A with an exceptional driving record.
  • Ability to pass necessary medical certifications including initial and random drug tests.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Preferred: A technical aptitude and the ability to build a basic knowledge of equipment operation and Product Inspection technologies.
  • Preferred: Diesel and mechanical knowledge gained through experience or training to help identify potential problems.
