Electrical Engineer

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

• Document (electronic) system requirements and electronic designs

• Work with the project team to select key electromechanical components to achieve requirements

• Work with component vendors to qualify parts to meet the needs of the system architecture and manufacturing

• Work with mechanical engineers to ensure optimal enclosure designs and electronic hardware interfaces

• Perform circuit design and oversee board layout for system circuit boards

• Own documentation and revision control of assigned parts, including associated engineering documents.

• Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) per the design and oversee incorporation in our SAP system.  

• Work with board houses to create prototype and production ready circuit boards

• Support existing and future products and generates and implements ECOs (Engineering Change Orders)

• Work with firmware Engineer on board bring up and initial testing

• Create prototypes and testbeds

• Own/assist in regulatory certification testing for EMC, safety, battery and radio device compliance.

• Create design and design verification plans and test reports as appropriate for the project

• Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of electricity and materials.

• Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.

• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing tasks, collaborating openly, and delivering timely well-conceived results.

What You Need to Succeed

• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience designing microprocessor-based embedded system hardware

• Experience designing electronics from a schematic level all the way to assembly & BOM level.

• Experience in digital and analog circuit design

• Experience working with motion control (Stepper and DC motor) drive architectures

• Experience in designing battery powered handheld devices

• Regulatory compliance experience (e.g. safety, emission, immunity, radio)

• Working knowledge in common computer hardware interface and data protocols such as USB, RS-232, SPI, I2C, I2S, CAN etc.

• Work in a PLM (product Lifecycle Management) environment

• eCAD software skills: Mentor Graphics Designer Suite preferred. 
• Must be able to work independently and with a team

• Ability and willingness to build test beds to prove out designs and test ideas.
