Mettler Toledo is seeking a Sales Specialist to assume responsibility for the sale of all Laboratory products in the Chicago/Wisconsin territory. You will focus on the Laboratory market and motivate all dealer personnel to sell Mettler Toledo products in these accounts; acting as a primary company representative while maintaining the highest level of integrity plus customer/dealer relations and service while achieving the established targets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Organize, plan and schedule selling time to provide effective account and territory coverage.
  •  Conduct trade shows, cart shows, and seminars at customer sites. 
  • Assist other sales reps with trade shows and seminars at other accounts whenever possible. 
  • Train and develop the skills of all dealer personnel involved in the selling of Mettler Toledo products. Specifically on applications, specifications, product justification, knowledge and policies so they can promote Mettler Toledo products on their own. 
  • Identify and develop present and future accounts within an assigned territory, plus maintain a complete active customer database in SAP.
  • Promote other divisions with lead generation, detailing their products or services, and inviting them to local shows and meeting with local reps to discuss business opportunities. 
  • Maintain a Mettler Toledo master dealer list in SAP and update address listings of dealer management and sales reps as changes occur. 
  • Be knowledgeable and report on all competitive products and distributors to management. 
  • Fully develop current product knowledge capabilities, applications, and product justification in order to be recognized as the expert in the field. 
  • Process received leads via SAP and maintain up-to-date records for each dealer. Discuss results with dealer reps and management.  
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, plus 2 or more years of sales experience in scientific instruments and capital equipment required. 
  • Significant experience with ERP and/or CRM systems; SAP preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations to senior groups and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellence in interpersonal/communication skills, professional maturity, and the ability to work with minimum supervision - a self-starter with strong organization, prioritization and time management skills 
  • Strategic thinking, and willingness to do so within a collaborative team environment 
  • Technical competence and knowledge depending on product line of support; applicable examples include engineering, biology, analytical chemistry or material science 
  • Prior product management experience supporting a technical product, preferred.
