Production Planner

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Role/Purpose:
The Production Planner is responsible for creating and releasing production orders for products, sub assemblies, or fabricated components. The position manages the production schedule based on capacities of work centers and requested completion dates. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plans, issues and monitors assembly schedule by analyzing a variety of input data to assure the timely delivery and efficient use of resources required to meet the delivery schedule.
  • Convert Planned Orders into Production Orders, and release those while meeting first confirmed delivery dates and maintaining a balanced schedule
  • Analyzing of SAP MRP exception messages to react to changing material requirements (quantity, requested availability dates) and/or expedite production orders if necessary.
  • Pro-active management of past due production orders, including providing detailed information to PO Order Management and other disciplines if needed
  • Update BOM details accurately as needed during out change order process, and sending expedite requests to Purchasing and Fabrication Planning
  • Track supply and stock situation; take corrective actions if necessary, and provide suitable information to internal customers
  • Active inventory management for core components by determining appropriate stock levels to ensure high service levels and optimized inventory levels
  • Maintain material master data related to Planning and Scheduling to ensure proper settings and product supply
  • Record and analyze reasons for delayed production orders to enable continuous improvement actions
  • Interface with Production, PO Order Management, and Procurement to obtain the necessary information for proper forecasting and adequate production scheduling to meet customer required delivery dates
  • Load and maintain demand plan (forecast) for assigned product lines, if applicable.
  • Partner with SCM leadership team to identify and address opportunities to improve performance through SCM strategies
  • Ability to work on-site in Mettler-Toledo office facility
  • Execute assigned projects as defined

What You Need to Succeed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Exposure within a technical engineering environment, especially Engineered-to-order.
  • Familiar with purchasing processes, financial reporting, and manufacturing cost systems.
  • Strong attention to details, with a passion for accuracy and ability to recognize and correct errors.
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload and work rapidly in a fast paced atmosphere. 
  • Strong analytical skills, combined with advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Ability to create and analyze processes including development & monitoring of performance metrics associated with those processes Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) as well as a strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience in production scheduling required.
  • SAP knowledge required.

Minimum Education / Experience Required:
  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in production scheduling, purchasing, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
