Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

The Corporate Counsel - Americas, based in Columbus, Ohio, will provide legal advice and support to the Americas legal team, reporting to the General Counsel. Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating commercial and corporate agreements, offering legal counsel on various matters such as digitalization, employment, and trade compliance, and delivering training on legal topics. The role also involves supporting senior attorneys with litigation, acquisitions, compliance, intellectual property, and public company matters, while proactively assessing legal risks and contributing to key team projects and initiatives. 

  • Provide practical legal advice to assist the organization in achieving its commercial goals while minimizing risks and enhancing compliance 
  • Develop and conduct legal training sessions to both colleagues and to internal clients on a wide variety of legal-related topics 
  • Draft, negotiate, interpret (and provide advice in connection with) a wide variety of commercial and corporate agreements 
  • Perform legal research and draft memoranda summarizing and applying the law on complex issues and in challenging and new areas of the law; 
  • Interface with internal and external customers in all aspects of contract negotiation, representing the Company professionally at all times during legal negotiations 
  • Support the Chief Legal Officer and Head of Compliance on public company filings and related matters 
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to management and other internal and external stakeholders 
  • Support and independently coordinate cross-divisional and cross-unit legal projects 
  • Manage disputes and litigation, including employment law matters, with guidance from senior attorneys 
  • Interpret and provide guidance to clients to enable them to follow company policies and internal procedures

What You Need to Succeed

  • 4-6 Years of relevant legal experience either in-house or advising companies in a law firm 
  • Bachelor's degree, Law degree and state bar licensure required (or in the process of obtaining state bar licensure) 
  • Must be proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) 
  • Knowledge of Adobe, relational databases and SharePoint is helpful 
  • Candidate will be knowledgeable in various aspects of contract review and negotiation, contract management and facilitation, particularly with the use of contracts-based knowledge derived from a legal education 
  • Candidate will have strong legal research and analytical legal skills 
  • Must have a strong ability to use discretion and make sound, independent business decisions based on the fundamental goals of the organization 
  • Will be able to communicate succinctly and effectively with various types of groups and individuals such as peers, other department associates, field personnel, customers, and management.
