Field Sales Representative - Industrial

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

This job involves selling industrial products, software, and services in the industrial weighing and automation/control markets. You'll be responsible for selling a wide range of products, both low-end and high-end capital equipment, using both transactional and consultative sales approaches. You'll be selling directly to customers and through other channels, including contractors, OEMs, System Integrators, and Engineering firms. The role requires an ability to work with contractors for project-oriented sales. 

  • Must possess the ability to develop account penetration plans, create opportunities through one's own actions, and aggressively pursue sales goals 
  • Utilize company resources to prepare for sales activities and account engagement actions 
  • Proactively engage assigned accounts offering a wide variety of solutions and services 
  • Develop, expand, and refresh relationships at assigned accounts through a network of MT employees, distribution partners, and other counterparts across your accounts 
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations to potential and existing customers. This includes presenting over a virtual platform and in person. 
  • Partner with company sales counterparts to expand overall account knowledge 
  • Promote Mettler Toledo to our customers as a valued and trusted partner across all divisions 
  • Understand our customer's needs and requirements in order to better support and hence react to an account's expanding requirements 
  • Work quickly and decisively to solve customer complains to retain business and improve the company's reputation 
  • Organize, plan and schedule utilization of selling time to provide optimum effective account and territory coverage 
  • Develop innovative sales strategies to achieve set sales objectives 
  • Negotiate T&C's, effectively defend pricing, and limit discounting in order to meet companies financial goals 
  • Routinely update sales pipeline, enter CRM changes in a timely manner, and stay ahead of basic administrative requirements.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis on Engineering, Industry and Technology or Business Administration (w/appropriate experience) 
  • 3-5 years of sales experience with a proven track record in the industrial marketplace. 
  • Knowledge of PLC/control systems and sales experience with OEM's, System Integrators, Engineering houses and Contractors is helpful. 
  • Must be proficient in MS Office software, have solid organizational skills and professional image. 
  • Significant experience with ERP and/or CRM systems; SAP preferred. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations to senior groups and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellence in interpersonal/communication skills, professional maturity, and the ability to work with minimum supervision - a self-starter with strong organization, prioritization and time management skills 
  • Strategic thinking, and willingness to do so within a collaborative team environment 
  • Technical competence and knowledge depending on product line of support; applicable examples are Engineering (Industrial Systems, Mechanical, Electrical), Material Science, Mathematics, Data Analytics 
  • Some products of support strongly benefit with candidates with Industrial experience with automation, process controls or capital equipment experience
