Global Segment Manager - POWER

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

  • Be the global segment expert for the THORNTON business in the power segment
  • Perform global competitive assessments and market trend analysis as key inputs for global strategy development.
  • Provide insights/strategy relative to the segment which includes product applications and identification of new parameter opportunities.
  • Support growth initiatives through intensive direct customer contact together with the local sales organization. Collaborate with local country organizations on hot pipeline reviews as requested and offer strategic selling insights to better differentiate our offering/increase win rates based on segment expertise and competitive positioning.
  • Provide local marketing and sales segment support with customer visits, seminars and localized training.
  • Participate on industry trade organizations and standards committees
  • Collaborate closely with THORNTON Product Management and provide key insights to support product positioning & competitive tactics.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to independently develop value added content with key industry insights is essential.
  • Generate content for marketing tools (e.g. application notes, success stories, white papers etc.)
  • Train customers and global sales force on applications
  • Provide strategic inputs to the business head for the respective segment as part of our strategic planning process.
  • Demonstrate the ability & effectiveness to collaboratively operate in a highly matrixed organization. The ability to indirectly lead, motivate and influence will be key success factors.
  • Extensive international travel (approx. 50%)

What You Need to Succeed

  • Degree in Engineering or Sciences. Equivalent experience may be considered as substitute.
  • Work experience in Sales, Marketing or customer facing role
  • Affinity with both the technical and the commercial aspects of the job
  • Extensive know-how of the power industry (processes, market trends, etc.)
  • Familiar with process instrumentation, preferably analytical instrumentation
  • Excellent communication skills in English, spoken and written
  • Business savvy and able to maneuver within all levels of an organization
  • Self-organized and independent working attitude
  • Confidence in various cultural environments
