Lead Category Manager

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

  • Category & Subcategory strategy development and promotion in close collaboration with the Lead Sourcing Engineer and key stakeholders. Implementation in close collaboration with the Lead Sourcing Engineer, Category Managers and Sourcing Engineers.
  • Managing the field of responsibility to achieve Global Direct Procurement targets on cost, delivery, quality, innovation and sustainability.
  • Financial and commercial overview of the managed categories, considering market intelligence and cost modelling in the field of responsibility.
  • Participate in the commercial relationship, business review meetings, supply agreements, KPI achievement, audits, supplier visits and risk mitigation activities for strategic suppliers defined in the category strategies
  • Coordinate & lead of multi-unit, cross-functional global projects (for example Sunbeam) and support both regional and global implementation.
  • Design of cost reduction programs while simultaneously guaranteeing quality and security of supply, as well as proportional contractual risks. Research and apply industry best practices to identify savings opportunities, and initiate transfers.
  • Manage the supplier base to reduce complexity, achieve ESG and risk management targets with the help of Lead Sourcing Engineer, Category Manager and Sourcing Engineer in the field of responsibility.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Master degree in Business Administration, Economics or related field
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Consulting, Key Account Management or related field in a global matrix driven organization with familiarity in end-to-end processes 
  • Experience in strategy development and implementation, negotiation, contracting, or procurement and/or dealing with Marketing/Communications stakeholders and suppliers would be considered an advantage
  • Strong strategy and project management skills, proven negotiation skills in an international environment
  • Proven experience in new supplier evaluation and introduction by following a structured RFI process
  • Ability to deal with complex initiatives and to lead through persuasion on all levels and cultures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with proven record of successfully presenting to all levels of a global organization
  • Independent working method and proactive communication skills
  • Solid financial acumen and strong analytical skills
  • Proficient user of MS Office and IT savvy in general
  • Flexible with travelling (approx. 10-20%)
