Lean Continuous Improvement Engineer- Oakland, CA

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities


Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean methodology and to help drive key activities and achieve production area improvements throughout the Unit. This role has the responsibility to attain key operational and back office results through Lean manufacturing tools. Additionally, this role will be responsible to leverage systematic problem solving techniques to improve performance and help drive a continuous improvement culture overall.

Support the implementation of the Mettler Toledo Production System (MTPS) to help achieve established KPIs by:
  • Build working relationships with Unit Management and all departments
  • Help implement the Lean Vision for the Unit
  • Provide necessary training to all levels and functions at Rainin
  • Facilitate Kaizen events and other Lean projects
  • Work with team members at all levels to drive improvement solutions
  • Manage all metrics related to the role
  • Work with the supervisory group to monitor effectiveness of implementations to sustain Lean/Continuous Improvement standards
  • Seeks out opportunities to improve team member knowledge base
  • Assist leadership in demonstrating their commitment to continuous improvement and removing barriers that slow successful improvement initiatives
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Manager


What You Need to Succeed


  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (e.g. Industrial, Mechanical) or equivalent experience
  • A "Can Do" and resourceful attitude & ability work with diverse team is necessary to succeed in this role
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Lean Manufacturing Techniques/Principles
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing implementation
  • Experience working in a fast paced team oriented environment
  • Leadership skills and ability to lead diverse team
  • A Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field or position is desired
  • Strong interpersonal skills, clear communicator, and demonstrated relationship-building skills
  • Ability to function through influence in the absence of having positional authority
  • Ability to form a team without official authority to do so, and motivate that team to accomplish self-directed goals
  • Self-Motivated with a proven record of taking initiative
  • Able to take a leadership role in driving change
  • Detail-Oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills
