Calibration Laboratory Manager

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

As our Calibration Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all activities within the Calibration and New Weight Laboratories and Contract Review. You will be tasked with development and implementation of a strategic departmental plan which supports achieving key metrics. This position performs diversified duties to provide technical support to other disciplines as necessary. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Managing laboratory and service supervisors and respective employees. 
  • Evaluating resource capacity against requirements. 
  • Coordinating with scheduling for production volumes, commitments, and deviations. 
  • Working with Quality and Metrology Departments in development and maintenance of measurement assurance programs and in preparation for accreditation of calibration disciplines. 
  • Maintaining a daily focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. 
  • Participating in continuous improvement activities to improve productivity, operating methods, and waste elimination. 
  • Leading daily team meetings. 
  • Maintaining inventory and responsibility for accurate execution of all inventory and SOX-compliant policies and procedures within the weight department. 
  • Working with Human Resources to maintain proper staffing, onboarding, and employee retention. 
  • Monitoring daily KPI reports and SQDC boards to track trends and managing accordingly. 
  • Performing root cause analysis on any discrepancies. 
  • Interfacing with other areas of the company or customers/distributors as necessary to provide technical information, administering quality requirements, and answering inquiries about products and orders. 
  • Developing direct reports to exceed potential and developing succession plans.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, business, or related field. 
  • 5-8 years of experience in management in a calibration laboratory setting. 
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025 and NIST. 
  • Demonstrated experience in team development and change management. 
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, fully onsite in Thorofare, NJ. 
  • Ability to work overtime coverage as needed, including weekdays and Saturdays.
